Tuning In 2024: What’s on the agenda

Under the theme of ‘Unlocking the audio advantage’, Tuning In 2024 will feature a star-studded line up to uncover the latest developments in audio and explore how radio advertising continues to offer brands a high return on their investment, highlighting growing audiences and successful brands.

James Rea, Global’s Chief Broadcasting and Content Officer, is set to introduce 12 brand new Global stations. Joining James on stage will be Sally Ardis, Senior Managing Editor for Smooth and Heart, and Matt Deverson, Managing Editor for Radio X and Capital XTRA. Together, they will reveal exclusive details as they discuss the new stations for the very first time. The line-up of new stations is Capital Anthems, Classic FM Calm, Classic FM Movies, Heart 10s, Heart Love, Heart Musicals, Radio X Chilled, Radio X 90s, Radio X 00s, Smooth 70s, Smooth 80s and Smooth Soul. The panel will be expertly hosted by broadcasting legend Margherita Taylor, ensuring an engaging and in-depth conversation about what this significant expansion of Global’s offering will mean for listeners and advertisers.

To celebrate the launch of Bauer’s brand-new audio platform, Rayo, Chief Creative Officer for Podcasts and Commercial Content, Lucie Cave, will be in conversation with presenters Jordan & Perri from KISS, Fleur East from Hits Radio and Martin Kemp from Greatest Hits Radio. The session will highlight the platform’s mix of talent and content, and how it helps bring listeners even closer to the music, shows and radio they love.

The stars of Capital Breakfast – Jordan North, Chris Stark and Sian Welby – will discuss how they entertain the nation every day and the work they do with commercial partners to bring brands into the show.

KISS presenter Marvin Humes and the station’s Content Director Rebecca Frank will share the stage with VOXI Mobile’s Media Manager Jamie Richter and Carat’s Strategy Partner Rupert Beck to discuss the success of their ongoing year-round partnership which includes radio, live events and social media activations.

MG OMD’s Head of Planning Flora Williams, a well-respected audio advertising expert, will discuss how AI is revolutionising audio media planning, enabling more rigorous insights and more informed planning decisions through synthetic data, and shaping innovative products for the future.

Robert Fox, Marketing Strategist at Specsavers, will present a session focused on why audio, and radio in particular, continues to play such an important role in Specsavers’ advertising strategy, fresh off winning the UK’s first ever Grand Prix for Audio & Radio at Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity for their “The Misheard Version” campaign featuring Rick Astley.

Also featuring at the event will be Rahmon Agbaje and Maatin Adewunmi, Co-founders of the music creative agency Loud Parade. Recently selected as part of a new cohort for Sky’s BEO F100 programme, the pair will speak about the power of using bespoke audio and music in advertising and how it can be used to attract Gen Z consumers.

Radiocentre’s CEO Matt Payton will open the morning’s proceedings with an overview of the market in what has been an eventful year for the industry. He will highlight the record commercial radio audiences and look ahead at the opportunities for the rest of the year, while KISS presenter Tyler West will be returning to host the event.
