Mental Health Minute wins at New York Festivals Radio Awards
The Mental Health Minute, the unique broadcast that unites the airwaves in support of mental health awareness, has topped its category and been awarded Silver in the Public Service Announcement Promotion category at the New York Festivals Radio Awards.
Building on 2018’s first iteration, 2019’s 60-second broadcast took place at 10:59am on 13th May, during both Mental Health Awareness Week and Radio Audio Week.
The Minute joined His Royal Highness The Duke of Cambridge with pop star Katy Perry, comedian, actor and writer Stephen Fry, actress and activist Jameela Jamil, and singer and television personality Alesha Dixon to talk about the value of listening and the positive role it can play on our mental health.
Bringing together over 500 commercial, community and BBC radio stations, the Mental Health Minute reached more than 20 million people across the UK. Produced by TBI Media, it was led by Radiocentre in collaboration with The Royal Foundation’s Heads Together initiative.
Lucy Barrett, Radiocentre’s Client Director said: “In these unprecedented times, when so many of us are struggling to cope with being in lockdown, we are grateful to be able to celebrate a very special broadcast that encourages us to talk about our mental health. We look forward to being able to announce 2020’s edition of the Mental Health Minute soon.”
