Keeping the nation smiling: the week in radio
We’re currently living through challenging times. Whether you tune in for the news, entertainment or a bit of companionship, it’s never been more important for radio to support its listeners.
You might be working from home, social distancing, or on the frontlines. Radio offers audiences a few moments of distraction, a voice in the room, and a bit of joy in a time when it’s needed more than ever. Some good songs, funny content and a few moments of collective positivity can all have an impact on your day.
Every week, we round up some of the best moments in commercial radio from the last seven days for your enjoyment. Whether you caught them live or want to listen back, check them out below.
Here’s something to jam to

Places worth making a noise about
Cities of Sound, a series on Greatest Hits Radio that was supported by the Audio Content Fund, wraps up this week. If you missed Kaiser Chiefs frontman Ricky Wilson exploring the musical heritage of Leeds on Wednesday, it’s running again on Sunday, or catch-up on the full series.
Kids and radio are the best combination
XS Manchester are looking for kids who’ve inherited their parents music tastes, like five-year-old Stella whose favourite song is Liam Gallagher’s Now That I’ve Found You. We think we prefer her cover over the original.
Does your littles one have the same great taste in music as you…?
Comment below and we will be in touch.

Sweet dreams
As the nights draw in, settle down for the evening with some soothing bedtime stories courtesy of Union JACK Radio. Their new podcast sees Brian Blessed giving an update to some classic children’s stories and fairy tales, including The Ugly Duckling this week.
One more reason to social distance…
Olly Murs stopped by Kent’s kmfm Breakfast show this morning to announce his gig next summer at The Hop Farm. But during his interview, he revealed a little more than presenter Laura bargained for when she asked him to share something we didn’t know about him.
? @ollymurs has a SHOCKING CONFESSION for @djgarrywilson and @LauraCrockettUK on kmfm breakfast this morning!
