Identification of Advertising
Rules 2.1-2.3 of the BCAP code apply.
Advertisements must be clearly distinguishable from editorial content. Listeners must quickly recognise the message as an advertisement. In some cases it may be necessary to ensure separation from editorial by a station ident of jingle, or to schedule advertising centre break.
Sound effects or material associated with news bulletins need special care.
Listeners should know who is advertising to them and advertisers should generally identify themselves.
Exceptions include teaser campaigns and public health, safety or welfare messages.
