Films, DVDs and Video Games
Advertisements for 15 or 18 films must state their rating where it may otherwise appear that the film is of a lower rating.
Advertisements for computer games must include the rating if the game is rated PEGI 16 or 18. An indication of other ratings is optional.
Computer games with a 16 or 18 rating must be scheduled away from programming likely to appeal to under-18s.
Care with scheduling may be needed in the case of copy containing references to violent crime, horror, drugs, sex etc. and content likely to upset children – this can extend to the music used and general atmosphere the advert creates.
If vox pops are used in film/video scripts (voiceovers of real people who give their view on the film/video), an assurance should be given to the effect that this is their real-life experience.
Quotations from critics’ reviews must be genuine and in context and should have been genuinely publishedor broadcast.
