Audio wins at Media Week Awards 2024

Goodstuff, Ovo, Manning Gottlieb OMD and Global were among the winners with audio campaigns at last night’s Media Week Awards.

For the second year in a row, Goodstuff won Gold in the Best Use of Audio category, sponsored by Radiocentre. ‘The Power Nap’ for OVO, used audio advertising combined with Say It Now’s actionable technology to encourage people to use energy during the National Grid’s off-peak hours, when it uses more renewable energy sources.

Generating earned media reach of more than 415 million, judges called the campaign a “true audio innovation” and said that the results were “excellent”. In terms of climate action, users of Power Move shifted 186,000 kWh and avoided 17 tonnes of carbon.

Goodstuff’s Head of Audio, Sam Austin, and Say It Now’s CEO, Charlie Cadbury, presented The Power Nap at Tuning In North 2024 which is available to watch on demand here.

Also for the second year in a row, a campaign executed by Global won the awards’ Grand Prix. ‘We’re not just heart” by MG OMD, OmniGOV, Havas London and Global for NHS Blood & Transplant to increase donations impressed the judges who said it went “over and above with audio” and that a “big impact” was created with a “small budget”.

The campaign saw Heart renamed, something that had never been done before. The station was renamed after the liver, pancreas, kidney and more to really drive the message home.

The message was delivered through emotive sponsorship idents by hosts Amanda Holden and Jamie Theakston, who also interviewed transplant survivors and organ donors.

As a result more than 64,000 people visited the NHS Organ Donation Register website, doubling the traffic pre-campaign, and there were 55,000 organ donation registrations. All in the space of one week.

The campaign was also awarded Silver in the Best Use of Audio category.

Radiocentre’s Client Director Lucy Barrett said: “Once again the Media Week Awards reflect just how effective radio is for advertisers. Congratulations to all the winners, the work that goes into making clients’ budgets go a long way with amazing creative ideas delivered in innovative ways, is so inspiring”.
