Sally Aitchison awarded MBE

Radiocentre is delighted that Sally Aitchison received the recognition she so richly deserved when she received an MBE for her services to the radio industry and charitable fundraising in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List in June.

Sally joined Radio Tees back in 1981 as a receptionist. She then moved in to sales, working her way through the ranks to become Sales Director, then Managing Director for TFM Radio. After stints as MD for Metro and Magic and then the whole of the North East, Sally was a natural choice to become Managing Director of the Cash for Kids charity.

Based across 21 areas in the UK, at the heart of the Bauer City Network radio stations, Cash for Kids supports children aged 0-18 who are disabled, disadvantaged or suffering from abuse or neglect. Since 2005, they’ve raised a staggering £83.6 million, helping more than 2 million disadvantaged children and young people. In 2014 they raised over £15 million.

Sally’s efforts were initially recognised last year, when she was given the Gold Award at the 2014 Bauer Radio Awards. This is awarded to an exceptional individual whose efforts have exceeded every target and goal.

Radiocentre would like to join the Cash for Kids team and everyone at Bauer Media in offering Sally our sincere congratulations. It couldn’t have happened to a nicer person.
