As Radiocentre’s CEO, Matt leads commercial radio’s engagement with Government and political stakeholders, while overseeing the sector’s joint marketing and research activities with advertisers and agencies. Matt joined Radiocentre in 2009 and held leadership roles in Policy and External Affairs before being named Chief Operating Officer in 2021 and then CEO in 2022.
During a period of immense change, he has led efforts to ensure a strong future for commercial radio and audio – securing more operational freedom and changes in legislation (including the 2024 Media Act), while campaigning for fairer competition with the BBC and showcasing radio’s public value role. In 2023 he announced an extension of Radiocentre’s remit to represent and promote all forms of audio provided by commercial radio.
Matt is a non-executive board member of the Advertising Association, the Association of European Radios, Radioplayer, RAJAR and the Broadcast Committee of Advertising Practice. Prior to joining Radiocentre, he worked for several membership organisations and trade bodies, in government and in parliament.
